Grantville Action Group Meeting This Thursday! September 2nd, 2010 Detailed lawsuit update Grantville Action Group attorney Craig Sherman will be at Thursday's GAG meeting to give the group a detailed update on the status of the Grantville Action Group lawsuit. On August 10th Craig filed our brief with the court. This document contains the legal arguments illuminating the illegalities of the validation lawsuit settlement agreement between the City and the County. This agreement will send over $31 million out of the Grantville redevelopment project area (Grantville, portions of Allied Gardens and Del Cerro) to pay for downtown improvements. We will have a handful of printed copies of the brief for those in attendance. If you would like an electronic copy of the brief and supporting documents, let me know, and I will send them to you. Our day in court is on schedule for October 29th. Funding the GAG lawsuit To date, the Grantville Action Group legal fund has received donations of nearly $50,000 from over 250 individuals. We are close to fully funding our legal action. Our attorney, Craig Sherman, has agreed to cap his fees to us at $50,000 with the rest to be paid on contingency after we win. However, court costs continue as we move toward trial, and they are to be paid by us. Please be sure to continue to contribute to redevelopment reform in Grantville. And thank you to everyone, who has been so generous so far. The Grantville Action Group accepts donations in person or by mail at the address listed below. GAG also accepts donations via Pay Pal at www.GrantvilleActionGroup.com. And of course, we accept donations at our monthly meetings at the Grantville VFW. The first round is on us!
