Grantville Action Group (GAG)
Meeting Minutes
6/14/2007

Meeting called to order at 6:32 P.M.

President Peterson introduced himself and GAG to the new attendees.  Gave updates on Springfest (went well).  Council vote on CenterPointe (passed).  State of District 7 Address by Madaffer (general outline).  Community Plan amendment (council passed).  Update on County lawsuit (still scheduled for 8/15).  Old Cliffs Mobile Home Park board voted to support GAG and will do “yellow postcard” campaign.  President Peterson also spoke of the other mobile home park sale status.  Spoke of hiring lawyers to help GAG with Community Plan Amendment and related issues.  Fundraising discussed (need to increase efforts).  Told group he was unable to attend Castle Coalition due to bike injury, but did get proceedings.

Treasurer’s report-as of 6/14/07 account balance $1,860.75.  Outlined expenses and donations for period 5/5-6/14, plus anticipated expenses.

5/3/07 minutes approved-unanimous.

Non-agenda Comments-Letter writing encouraged, discussed redevelopment (abusive) vs. individual sales & development (Platinum Triangle example), tax increment paid in Grantville stays in Navajo Community (not necessarily Grantville-some Grantville money already earmarked for Tierresanta through HELP program), wondered how many other community/civic groups are aware of situation (like Kiwanis), also mentioned our GAG flyer distribution.

Allied Gardens-survey has not yet been sent out.

NCPI-Mentioned Community Facilities Plan for Navajo.  A speaker is expected to address NCPI on this at their next meeting.   Also discussed Grantville A&B.  Madaffer borrowed $600,000.00 from block grant & plans to pay back out of Grantville money.  Outline how developer impact fees calculated for community facilities use and road improvements.

Possible media event discussed for Kelo anniversary 6/23/07.

Voted 7 to 5 to have next GAG meeting on usual date of 7/5/07-the day after holiday.

Open discussion:  Complaint that Madaffer’s office doesn’t really tell you anything when questioned about Grantville.  General lack of accountability.   Also comments made concerning lack of and the need for citizen oversight.  NCPI is updating/changing their by-laws and adding Grantville seats.  GAG question the motivation for this.  Adding these seats will prevent a GRAC from being required.  This move will make NCPI the existing GRAC.

More discussion on the lack of clarity in all reference sources as to boundaries for Grantville and Allied Gardens.

Meeting adjourned 7:25 p.m.
