Meeting Minutes 4/5/2007 Meeting called to order 6:36 p.m. President Peterson reviewed GAG successes A) We now have more than 600 supporters (closer to 700) and B) Navajo Community Planners vote-our preferred candidates tied for the second seat before 4 of our votes we disallowed after the results were known. President gave brief overview of GAG mission to new comers. President’s Report and floor comments/discussion: On 3/24/2007 County Supervisor Diane Jacobs addressed the Allied Gardens Community Group and was followed by a well received speech by GAG President Peterson, a new date set in August for the Grantville Redevelopment hearing, the City Council hearing for Centerpoint reschedule to May 15th, Councilmember Donna Frye meeting overview given. Agenda 21 & parallel issues mentioned. President Peterson reminded the group that letters of support for the lawsuit should be sent to the County Supervisors. Centerpoint & Grantville Redevelopment EIR’s added to GAG library, plus Navajo Community Planners by-laws. President reported that GAG is on target with its agenda per various publications regarding effective community action groups. Treasurer’s report given. Donations continue to come in and expense overview. Report was given outlining the events regarding the Navajo Community Planners vote and outcome. An agreement was reach between Chuck Little and Sherry Kelly that he serve on the Navajo Community Planners board. Tierrasanta link & traffic issued will be revisited later. Group also mentioned Santo road. Workshop proposed to educate & discuss Grantville project background. A) What is it and B) What do we want? Discussed possibility of inviting Councilman Jim Madaffer to address group. Prop 1B money discussed. Can it be used to enhance I8 & Mission Gorge? Letters to SANDAG suggested. Del Cerro group was successful. CalTrans could /should adjust timing of traffic lights, but won’t? Need lane added first? Trolley location & impact discussed. Parking meters discussed for money to maintain Grantville common areas as suggested by UCLA professor. Planning dept. is supposed to be updating community plans. Money may not be available for that to happen. Overlay zone option discussed. Outreach, marketing, and fundraising plans discussed. Goal is to attract more GAG supporters. SpringFest discussed and volunteers requested. Grantville/Allied Gardens relationship discussed. Navajo Community Planners wants to split representation. Dividing lines unclear-see various maps. Split representation may not be beneficial to either community. Actions in either community affect the other. Group urged to attend 4/17/2007 County Board of Supervisors meeting where President Peterson will speak to introduce them to GAG, it’s mission, and inform them of our support for their lawsuit. Closing discussions covered the effectiveness of various effective munications/marketing ideas. Meeting adjourned approx. 8:15 p.m. . |
